Setting Up Reviews Program Part 1

Reward customers with points for writing reviews. This guide covers turning on the review program, creating the review reward, showing it to customers, limiting how often it's given, auto-approving good reviews, and giving bonus points for photo and video reviews.

1. Option 1: Open Earning Rules

There are two ways to turn on the review program. Use either one.

For option 1, go to https://merchant.nector.io/ and click Programs in the left sidebar. The Earning Rules page opens.

2. Option 1: Initialize from the Reviews tab

Click the Reviews tab at the top of the Earning Rules list. If the reviews program isn't set up yet, you'll see "The reviews program is not yet initialized." Click Initialize. The Review Program page opens. Go to step 4.

3. Option 2: Open the Review Program from Features

Click Features in the left sidebar. On the All Features page, under Programs, click the Review Program card. The Review Program page opens.

Tip: 💡 Tip: If the Reviews tab already lists a Review Reward, or the Review Program card on the Features page shows Enabled, your reviews program is already set up. Skip to step 7.

4. Turn on the review program

Whichever option you used, you're now on the Review Program page. Under Review Program Status, turn on the Status toggle.

The page now shows four sections: Earning Rules, Approval & Reward Conditions, Image Review Bonus and Video Review Bonus. Under Earning Rules you'll see a message that no rewards exist yet.

5. Create the review reward

1. Under Earning Rules, click Create Earning Rule. You're taken back to the Reviews tab, and a Ways To Reward Customers pop-up opens.
2. Click Review Reward.

6. Set the points and create the reward

The Create Wallet Points Reward form opens:

1. Points to reward (required): the points a customer earns for each review, for example 100.
2. Expire Points In Days (optional): how many days before these points expire. This overrides your store's default expiry.
3. Click Create.

The Review Reward now appears in the list with its status turned on. By default, each customer can earn it once a month.

Tip: 💡 Tip: Keep the reward simple, for example 100 points per review, so customers understand it at a glance.

7. Edit the reward details

Click Review Reward in the list to open it. On the Discount Settings tab, under Reward Settings:

• Points To Reward: the points for each review, for example 100.
• Reward Title: the name shown in the customer's wallet history. It's set to "Review Reward" by default.
• Reward Description (optional): a short note shown in their wallet history.
• Expire Points In Days (optional): overrides your store's default expiry for these points.

Keep the Status toggle on the right turned on so customers can earn this reward.

8. Show the reward to customers

Show This Reward In the Ways To Earn Section is ticked by default. Under Content Settings, set what customers see in the rewards widget and on the rewards page:

• Icon and Position: how the reward looks and where it sits in the list.
• Title: "Write A Review" by default.
• Description: "Get {coin_amount} {coin_name}" by default. The variables are filled in automatically, for example "Get 100 NEC Coins".
• Link (optional): the page that opens when a customer clicks the reward.

Click Save.

9. Limit how often customers are rewarded (optional)

On the Advanced Settings tab, under Execution Restriction, Reward only for certain number of times in a given period is already selected:

• Reward count: how many review rewards each customer can earn. The default is 1.
• Interval To Reset Reward Count: how often the count resets. The default is month.

Monthly limits help prevent misuse while keeping customers engaged. Click Save.

10. Set approval and reward conditions (optional)

Go back to the Reviews tab and click Edit Reviews Settings. The Review Program page opens. Under Approval & Reward Conditions:

• Auto-Approve Minimum Rating: reviews at or above this rating are published automatically, for example 4 stars.
• Skip Reward Below Rating: reviews at or below this rating don't earn rewards.
• Reward Only Verified Reviews: when on, only verified reviews earn rewards. Unverified reviews are still published under your auto-approve rule but get no points.

Click Save.

11. Give a bonus for photo and video reviews (optional)

On the same page, set a multiplier for reviews with media:

• Image Review Bonus → Image Bonus Factor: for example 2, so a review with a photo earns 200 points instead of 100.
• Video Review Bonus → Video Bonus Factor: for example 3, so a review with a video earns 300 points.

Each section has its own Save button, so click Save after each one.

12. Test it before going live

Write a review from your own customer account and check that:

• the points are added after the review is submitted
• the image and video bonuses are applied correctly

13. Check it on your store

Changes can take a few minutes to show. Open your store and click the rewards widget, then click Ways to Earn.

14. Find the review reward

The review reward is listed under Ways To Earn as Write A Review, with the points the customer earns, for example "Get 100 NEC Coins". Check the rewards page too.
