Setting Up Loyalty Program - Part 3 (Ways to Redeem)

Creating Redemption Rules for Rewards

Introduction

Welcome to your step-by-step guide on configuring redemption rules in Nector! 🌟

Redemption rules let you control how customers redeem their coins during purchases — unlocking savings, boosting engagement, and adding a rewarding touch to every transaction.

By following this guide, you’ll learn to set redemption values, apply limits, and customize how rewards appear on your store’s widgets and checkout pages. Let’s make your loyalty experience even more delightful! 💫

Step 1: Introduction to Redemption Rules

Why it matters:

Before configuring, it’s important to know where your redemption settings live. These rules determine how redemption options appear to customers.

How to do it:

• From your Nector dashboard, navigate to Program → Redemption Rule in the left-hand menu.

• Review the available settings to understand their impact on your front-end display.

Step 2: Defining Redemption Rules

A redemption rule defines how customers redeem their coins.

If your store uses Shopify Native Checkout, you’ll need a specific configuration for that setup.

Step 3: Understanding Checkout Variations

Different checkout methods require unique setups:

• Shopify Native Checkout: Standard configuration (covered here).

• Shopify Plus or third-party checkouts: Slightly different processes.

Step 4: Configuring New Rules

Updating or creating new rules gives you flexibility to align redemptions with your brand’s strategy.

How to do it:

• Go to Floating Widget & Pages.

• Choose to either update existing rules or create new configurations from scratch.

Step 5: Applying Rules to Widgets

Once configured, these rules automatically apply to:

• The Floating Widget

• The Referral Rewards Page

Step 6: Exploring Discount Types

Choose from multiple discount types:

• Dynamic amount discount

• Fixed amount discount

• Dynamic percentage discount

• Fixed percentage discount

• Free shipping

Step 7: Establishing Point Value

This sets how much value each coin has for the customer.

Example: 1 point = ₹1 discount

Step 8: Setting Maximum Discounts

Set a maximum discount limit per order to control redemption value.

For example: Maximum discount = ₹200

Step 9: Minimum Cart Requirements

You can optionally set a minimum cart amount required for redemption.

Example: Minimum cart = ₹500

Step 10: Confirming Rule Configuration

Review your rule:

1 point = ₹1 discount

Maximum = ₹200 per order

Step 11: Customer Clarity

Step 12: Standardizing Rules

While you can configure multiple redemption rules for various values or products, keeping things simple and dynamic ensures clarity and a smoother user experience.

💡 Best Practice: Stick to one clear rule like “1 coin = ₹1 off” for most scenarios.

Step 13: Understanding Redemption Limits

Set clear limits to control redemption behavior.

Example: Customers can redeem up to 200 coins per order.

Step 14: Fixed Discount Control

Step 15: Exploring Cart Value Restrictions

Dynamic rules can scale based on cart value, giving more flexibility.

Example: A higher cart total unlocks greater redemption power.

Step 16: Setting Minimum Cart Values

Step 17: Dynamic Discounts Based on Cart Value

Step 18: Multiplying Discounts

Example setup: Multiplier = 4

For a ₹200 discount, the cart must be at least ₹800.

Step 19: Product and Category Rules

You can target specific products or categories for redemption.

By default, redemption coupons expire in 15 days.

Step 20: Extending Coupon Validity

Adjust coupon duration to better fit your customer journey — for example, extending expiry to 30 days for seasonal campaigns.

Step 21: Coupon Usage Flexibility

Choose who can redeem the coupon:

• Enabled: Only the generating customer can redeem.

• Disabled: Any customer can redeem (useful for certain third-party checkouts).

Step 22: Advanced Settings

Customize your redemption experience further by adding:

• A Discount Name

• A Customer-facing Description

Step 23: Combining Discounts

Combine your redemption rule with other Shopify discounts — like product-specific or shipping-based offers — to give customers more value.

Step 24: Segment-Specific Rules

For personalized experiences, you can:

• Create segments in Shopify

• Enter their Segment ID in Nector

Step 25: Reviewing Customer Experience

Switch to your storefront and review how the configured rules appear to customers.

Step 26: Widget Display Review

Open your widget on the live store and check redemption options. Ensure everything matches your setup. Confirm that your widget shows:

Step 27: Generating Redemption Coupons

When customers click “Redeem,” they’ll see a detailed redemption page and automatically receive a coupon code for checkout.

Step 28: Visibility on Rewards Page

Double-check that your rule appears under Ways to Redeem on the Rewards Page, ensuring full visibility for customers.

Step 29: Enabling Additional Widgets

Activate the Other Widgets → Points Redeem at PDP Add To Cart option to allow redemption directly on the Product Display Page (PDP).

Step 30: Ensuring PDP Availability

Make sure your discount applies during product-level purchases for maximum convenience.

This ensures customers can redeem points seamlessly while shopping.
