Setting Up Email Notifications for Triggers

Introduction

Email notifications keep customers informed at every stage of their loyalty journey—whether they’ve earned points, received a coupon, completed a referral, or submitted a review. With Nector’s communication engine, you can create automated emails based on powerful triggers, personalize templates, and even send test emails before going live.

This guide walks you through the entire setup—from choosing triggers to customizing templates and verifying your sending domain.

Step 1 - Access Email Notification Settings

Go to the Nector Dashboard → Communication (left menu) → Notification.

Step 2 - Create a New Email Notification

On the Notification page, click the plus (+) icon → select Send an Email.

Step 3 - Choose a Trigger

You will see 14 available triggers covering reviews, wallet points, referrals, coupons, and more.

Select the trigger relevant to your workflow.

Step 4 - Example: Selecting “Wallet Point Rewarded”

For demonstration, choose the Wallet Point Rewarded trigger—ideal for notifying customers when they earn loyalty points.

Step 5 - Auto-Generated Email Template

Once you select a trigger, Nector automatically loads a pre-built email template for you.

Step 6 - View or Customize the Email Subject

The subject line for this trigger appears here.

Step 7 - Modify or Proceed

You can adjust the subject line to reflect your brand identity or click Create to proceed without editing.

Step 8 - Edit the Email Template

After creating the notification, click back into the email template to edit:

• Subject line

• Body content

• Brand voice

• Variables (e.g., {{points}}, {{customer_name}})

Click Save when done.

Step 9 - Send a Test Email

You can test your configured email:

Click Send Test Email → enter a customer email.

Make sure the email belongs to an existing Shopify or website customer.

Step 10 - Send Test Email

Once validated, enter the email ID → click Send Test Email.

Step 11 - Check Email History

You can view the log of emails sent in the past 7 days.

Step 12 - Monitor Trigger Activity

If enabled, the dashboard will show how many emails were triggered in the last 7 days.

Template details—content, variables, and setup—are visible here.

Step 13 - Modify Template Content

Use placeholders to personalize content. After updates, click Save or navigate back.

Step 14 - Specify Wallet Transaction Restrictions

You can restrict emails for specific wallet transactions:

Choose Credit or Debit operations.

Step 15 - Filter by Transaction Type

Select if the email should trigger only for certain types of transactions.

Step 16 - Restrict by Wallet Transaction Title

Enter transaction titles that should receive emails.

Step 17 - Skip Emails for Selected Titles

If some transactions should not trigger emails, add them to the skip list.

Enter titles you wish to exclude from receiving emails.

Step 18 - Add Trigger Slugs

Configure inclusion or exclusion rules for triggers using trigger slugs.

Step 19 - Finalize & Navigate Back

Once all restrictions and conditions are set, click Back.

Step 20 - Trigger Created Successfully

Your email notification trigger is now active. You can set up multiple notifications using different templates and triggers.

Emails will fire automatically based on the configuration.

Step 21 - Improve Email Deliverability

By default, emails are sent via Nector’s shared SMTP—which may land in spam. To improve deliverability, configure your brand’s email domain instead.

Step 22 - Enter Sender Details

Add:

• Sender Name

• Brand Name

• Reply-to Email Address

Step 23 - Save & Verify Domain

Click Save and Verify Domain.

Step 24 - Complete Domain Verification

Follow the steps shown to verify your domain unless using a dummy domain.

Step 25 - Add Custom Properties (Optional)

You may create custom email properties and include them in your templates.

Step 26 - Completion

Your email notifications for triggers are now fully configured. Thank you for completing the setup!
