Integrating Shopify Metafields for Customer Loyalty Data

Integrating Shopify Metafields with Nector lets you automatically sync customer loyalty data—such as tier, coin balance, and more—directly into Shopify’s customer metafields.

This guide walks you through enabling the integration, creating the event, and using metafields inside Shopify.

Step 1: Navigate to the Metafields Integration

From the left-hand menu of your Nector dashboard:

• Click Integration

• Then select Metafields

Step 2: Open Shopify Metafields Configuration

After clicking Metafields:

• Locate Shopify Metafields

• Click Configure to open the configuration panel

Click on Configure to open the configuration settings.

Step 3: Enable the Metafields Integration

Inside the configuration screen:

• Set Status → Enable

Allow up to 5 minutes for the changes to take effect.

💡 Tip: If the data doesn’t sync immediately, refresh Shopify after a few minutes.

Step 4: Configure the Event to Update Shopify Metafields

In the event configuration screen:

1. Set Property → Customer is Updated
2. Set Destination → Shopify Metafield
3. Click Create to save the event

Once created, Nector will automatically push loyalty-related customer data—such as customer tier and coin balance—into Shopify customer metafields.

💡 Tip: This event triggers whenever customer data in Nector updates, keeping Shopify fully in sync.

Click on Create Event to start defining the event that will sync customer data.

Step 5: Configure the Event to Update Shopify Metafields

In the event configuration:

1. Select the Property as Customer is Updated.

1. Set the destination to Shopify metafield so that updated customer data is sent there.
2. Click on Create to save the event.

This setup will automatically send all loyalty-related customer data (such as the customer’s tier and coin balance) to Shopify customer metafields.

Step 6: Use Customer Loyalty Data from Shopify Metafields

Once integration and events are active:

• 🎖 Tier level

• 💰 Coin balance

• 🪪 Other loyalty attributes
