# Adding product/category restrictions to redemption rules

To add restriction to redemption rules

* Go to [Redemption Rules](https://merchant.nector.io/programs/loyalty?int_tab=redemption_rules) tab under **Loyalty Settings** inside the **Loyalty Program**.

* Under **Redeem Coins** click on the rule you want to add the restriction too.

* Scroll below to the **Restrictions** settings

### Minimum Cart Amount Restriction

We can add two types of **Minimum cart amount type**

1. **Fixed** - In this restriction, we have to add an amount in the **Minimum cart amount** then the discount will be applicable only when an order of that amount is placed

2. **Multiplier** - In this restriction, we have to add a **Multiplier Factor** which basically mulitplies the discount given to the minimum cart value, it is explained in detail below

###### How multiplier minimum cart value works?

Multiplier-based minimum cart value helps you generate a dynamic minimum cart value that is based on the discount amount.
Example: If you keep the multipler factor as 4. Then the minimum cart value will be 4 times that of the discount. If the user generate a discount of 50, then the minimum cart value will be 200.

### How to add Product Restriction

* Tick the **Restrict the discount to particular products/categories**

* Under **Applicable on** select the Product option

* There under **Product Ids** you can select the products which you want the restriction to be applied too

||| If this discount only applies to selected products then upto a 100 products will be allowed

### How to add Category Restriction

* Tick the **Restrict the discount to particular products/categories**

* Under **Applicable on** select the Category option

* There under **Category Ids** you can select the categories which you want the restriction to be applied too
